USDA to investigate county area and production of row crops

LINCOLN – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service will be investigating growers in 38 states, including Nebraska, as part of its 2021 Row Crops County crop production survey.

The survey will collect information on the total area planted and harvested and the total yield and row crop production to support the estimates down to the county level. Producers can securely complete their survey online at

“The data provided by growers will help federal and state programs support farmers,” said Nicholas Streff, director of the NASS Northern Plains regional office. “We hope that each producer who receives this survey will take the time to respond. Producers benefit from available data to help determine precise loan rates, disaster payments, crop insurance pricing choices, and more. Without data, agencies such as the USDA Risk Management Agency or the Farm Service Agency might not have enough information on which to base their programs.
