Amazon Girls’ Tech Day web service host

GIRLS and young women aged eight to 24 are invited to attend a free virtual technical day on Saturday, November 13.

The AWS (Amazon Web Services) Girls’ Tech Day is held annually to “inspire and motivate” girls and young women to develop and pursue their interests in technology.

The program also supports teachers and staff who can participate with their classes, tech groups and girls’ clubs.

This year’s program includes speaker sessions from students and women in tech and interactive coding workshops involving hands-on coding activities in programming languages, Scratch and Python.

Learning and discovery sessions will also be held virtually, with attendees discovering how algorithms, machine learning, and cloud computing power Amazon’s execution process.

There will also be fun activities on offer, such as taking a photo, participating in quizzes and more.

According to AWS, the workshop activities are designed so that each attendee can go at their own pace and watch the program on demand as many times as they want between November 13 and December 13.

To join Tech Day, participants will need to create an account in Scratch and to complete the activities.

All activities require an electronic device such as a computer or mobile phone with internet connection.

Registration is now open. Parents, guardians and teachers must register participants under the age of 18.
