The Columbus Blue Jackets celebrate the youngest members of The 5th Line with Kids Takeover Day, presented by Bob Evans, on Sunday, April 24 when the Jackets host the Edmonton Oilers at 1 p.m. . The first 5,000 fans, ages 12 and under, will receive a growth chart featuring the Blue Jackets forward Sean Kurali.
Scout Troop 7365 will serve as the Color Guard during the performance of the National Anthem by 12-year-old Athena Updike. Bryson Wene, 11, and Jerren Jackson, 10, will take over from Mike Todd and serve as hosts in the game arena for the day.
A regular at Nationwide Arena and the Columbus Blue Jackets, Charlie Cook, 12, will be alongside AP announcer Greg Murray and deliver the starting lineups for the game. Fans of all ages can have fun with activities throughout the lobby, including face painting, balloon artists, dress up like a jacket, and more. Attendees will also find Blue Jackets mascot Stinger and friends available for photos.
Bleacher Report broadcaster and hockey content creator Andrew Telfer, aka “Nasher,” will be in the lobby signing autographs. Telfer hails from central Ohio and is a member of CBJ Gaming, the esports arm of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The evening will feature unique fundraisers to benefit the Blue Jackets Foundation and its mission to support the health and well-being of children in central Ohio. Registration is open for the Get Out and Learn summer session, presented by Safelite, a free hockey try-out clinic for kids ages 5-9 with no previous skating or hockey experience. Throughout the summer, 30-minute clinics will be held at local hockey rinks and youth centers including Columbus, Delaware, Gahanna, Grove City, Westerville and Upper Arlington.
