Central defeats BG in five sets | News, Sports, Jobs


Central and host Bishop Guilfoyle took turns winning sets as the match was 2-2 going into the final set before the Dragons captured it 15-8 to win Tuesday’s game in volleyball- high school ball.

Central won the first and third sets (25-20, 25-22), while the Marauders won the second and fourth (25-17 and 25-21).

Zach Wyant had 25 assists, 13 kills and four blocks, while Eli Lingenfelter had 15 kills and six blocks.

Noah Anderson led BG with 19 kills and 14 digs, while Nick Anderson had 16 kills, eight digs and two blocks.

Altoona beaten

Altoona led 2-1 before dropping the final two sets in a loss to West Shamokin at AAHS Fieldhouse.

The Mountain Lions won the first set (25-19) before dropping the second (25-22), winning the third (25-23) and then missing the last two (25-22 and 15-13).

Garrett Baumgartner led Altoona with 20 kills, 18 blocks and six service points, while Sam Kessinger had 31 assists, eight points and seven digs.
