Just two weeks after fans said goodbye to Mollie Carter on Unsafe, HBOMax released the trailer for Yvonne Orjithe next project of.
The actress and comedian is set to host the streaming service’s latest reality series, a dating show titled Your mom, my dad. According to Variety, the show features a cast of single parents nominated to participate in a dating experience by their college-aged children.
The men and women move into a house called a ‘Second Chance Retreat’, where they participate in challenges and activities similar to those on shows such as Ready to love Where The bachelorette. The twist to this premise is that while the parents get to know each other in the hopes of finding love, their kids have also moved into a house across the street together.
Through a screen wall, featured by Orji in the trailer, kids can meddle in the pairing process, offer advice, and even see their parents in a different light.
My mom, your dad premieres January 13.
The new series marks Orji’s third project with HBO. In 2020, she is releasing the special Mom i did it, who saw her not only stand-up in Washington, but also discuss her Niger-American upbringing and return to her parents in Nigeria.
This isn’t the first time she’s hosted a streaming special, either. Orji closed 2021 as host of Prime Video’s second edition Annual Departure, a year-round review program in which the major events of 2021 are remembered through a series of televised accolades.
Since he rose to prominence as Issa Raebest friend of Unsafe, Orji has also added films to his filmography, including a starring role in last year Vacation Friends alongside the actor Lil rel howery and wrestler Jean Cena.
The actress also released her first book last year, a partly autobiographical and partly self-help book titled Bamboozled by Jesus: How God trapped me in the life of my dreams.
