Hines VA Hospital to Host Drive-Through Baby Shower for Veteran Families

Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital will be hosting a drive-through baby shower for veterans and their families on Saturday, September 18, from 11 am to 1 pm.

Expectant parents can receive a variety of baby items to help them start their new journeys, such as bottles, pacifiers, books, strollers, backpacks, and car seats. Hines will also include personal care bags for new parents.

“Becoming a new parent is an amazing and sometimes difficult journey,” said Marisa Riis, Maternity Care Coordinator for Hines VA. “We want to help expected families celebrate this very special moment and let them know they have support at Hines.”

To participate, veterans must confirm their attendance to [email protected] by Wednesday September 15th.

Prospective parents are expected to be in their second trimester or beyond, and receiving care through Hines VA.

Community members interested in donating Veterans Baby Shower items can call (708) 202-8387, ext. 22523.

The baby shower will be held at Crossman’s Circle near The Fisher House on the Hines VA Hospital Campus, 5000 S. Fifth Ave., Hines, IL 60141.

This is the second drive-through baby shower at Hines VA as it continues to support veterans and their families during the ongoing pandemic. To maintain social distancing and safety, attendees will receive a scheduled pickup time. Face masks are still required on the Hines VA campus.
