Humanitarian Access and Security Assistant_National Contract (1 Maban position)

Under the guidance and supervision of the Field Manager and Supply Chain Manager and under the technical guidance of the Humanitarian Access Safety and Security Manager, the Security Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Field Manager and Supply Chain Manager in carrying out their security responsibilities at the assigned duty station.

The incumbent will report to the Field Manager and Supply Chain Manager, work closely and coordinate with Safety and Security Focal Points, ensure the safety and security of SCI staff and assets in Maban refugee camps and within the host community.

As security focal point, collate security and access related information using relevant sources, analyze criticality of information and escalate to higher level/line managers, perform radio checks; Vehicle and staff movement logs confirming safe movements, arrivals and departures, to monitor staff movements between Maban and other sites within the project coverage area, Ensure that security measures Agreed physicals for doors, gates and windows are implemented and Ensure that personnel who receive security briefings and orientations, sign the relevant form, file all security related documents in accordance with DHAS guidelines


Degree from a recognized institution


  • Minimum 1 year in a humanitarian organization

  • Knowledge of the use of VHF and HF radio and satellite telephone will be an added advantage.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Arabic language will be an added advantage.

  • Ability to show initiative and be tenacious in different situations

  • Adaptable and flexible; Able to work early in the morning

  • Ability to move around in the field – infrequent

  • Ability to organize work efficiently

  • Experience working in insecure/hostile environments.

  • Ability to work within a multicultural and multiethnic team

  • Good knowledge of the humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality as set out in the Humanitarian Charter and the International Code of Conduct of the Red Cross.

  • Understanding and commitment to the goals, values ​​and principles of Save the Children.

  • Ability to liaise and network with various partners.

  • Conflict resolution techniques with ability to understand and foster good working relationships with host and refugee community.

  • Knowledge of the local language spoken, an asset

Contract duration: 7 months

Location: South Sudan, Maban field office.
