Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings stick to “Jeopardy!”
It was announced on Wednesday that the pair will host the long-running game show throughout its 38th season, which will air until 2022.
“We are delighted to announce that Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will continue to share hosting duties until the end of Jeopardy! Season 38, and Michael Davies will remain as executive producer, ”Sony said in a statement. “We are delighted to have such an excellent and experienced team in front and behind the camera as we approach 2022! “
Bialik and Jennings have been announced as the hosts of “Jeopardy!” following the informal exit of Mike Richards, the executive producer of the show who was briefly selected to be the new host following the death of Alex Trebek. Richards resigned as host nine days after landing the job after insensitive comments he had previously made on a podcast surfaced, as did reports of two past discrimination trials during his tenure on “The price is fair “. He was fired as the show’s executive producer shortly thereafter.
Bialik was also appointed host of the prime-time specials and spinoffs of the show at the same time as Richards was appointed host. She was recruited to replace the day host of “Jeopardy” after Richards left, with Jennings joining her in September.
LeVar Burton, Katie Couric, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Anderson Cooper, Buzzy Cohen, David Faber and Aaron Rodgers also tried out the full-time hosting gig. It was announced in November that Burton, a fan favorite to cover the “Jeopardy!” role, has partnered with eOne to develop and host a new game show “Trivial Pursuit”.
