Song Joong Ki in talks to host 26th Busan International Film Festival

South Korean superstar Song Joong Ki is likely to host the opening ceremony of the upcoming 2021 Busan International Film Festival.

Reportedly, actor’s label HISTORY D&C has confirmed the new development Song Joong Ki has been offered to host the prestigious 26th Busan International Film Festival from October 6 to 15 KST. Although he has yet to confirm the offer, his team added that the actor is reviewing it “positively”.

Notably, Space Sweepers, Song Joong Ki’s hit sci-fi film, is one of many films selected to premiere at BIFF this year. In addition to Song Joon Ki’s presence at the film festival, “Heaven: To the Land of Happiness” directed by director Kim Sang-Soo has been confirmed as the opening day film.

Each year, the BIFF is organized to recognize emerging talent in the entertainment industry across Asia, including directors, actors and other artists.

Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki recently made headlines for winning this year’s “Best Actor” award at the “Brand of the Year” awards.

Professionally, the actor last appeared in ‘Vincenzo’ which went on to become one of the most watched K-Dramas of his time slot.

Currently, Song Joong Ki is shooting for his next film “Bogota”. Previously, filming on the film had been suspended due to the increase in COVID-19 cases and the actor’s coming into close contact with an acquaintance infected with the virus.

For the small screen, Song Joong Ki was strung in the new-age revenge drama “The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family”. Directed by JTCB, it will also star Shin Hyun Been.
