Storyteller Announced as Joint Host of Pride of Jersey Awards

STORYTELLER and comedian John Henry Falle has been announced as the co-host of the Pride of Jersey awards ceremony on September 22.

He joins singer Georgi Mottram – founder of the Ida Girls soprano quartet and host of last year’s Pride Awards – for the 2022 event, which drew a record 177 nominations across 14 categories.

Mr. Falle, who grew up on the island, said he was honored to have been invited to join in the celebration of the island’s wonderful culture of public service.

“I read about nominees – people who care for their own communities and want to nurture those communities, even if it starts with family members building parishes.

“They are people who are very committed to making the world a better place, who have often shown immense bravery. It is wonderful and I am delighted to be a part of it,” he said.

Mr Falle, whose onstage persona as Story Beast previously led to him being nominated for Best Comedy Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is based in London but has regularly returned to Jersey and featured on the platform. online digital form of ArtHouse Jersey during lockdown.

Earlier this year he was commissioned by the organization to celebrate the island in a poem, A Complete History of Jersey (in just under ten minutes).

It was published in the JEP and then released as a video. He is also currently working on a history and folklore project in Jersey schools.

With less than a week left for the public to vote for Pride of Jersey, which can be registered online at until midnight Thursday.
