SUMMER JOB FAIR OFFERS MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE AGED 15 AND UP. The City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a summer job fair starting at 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Rock’N River Water Park located at 800 Harrell Parkway. There will be free pizzas, drinks, giveaways, and the Rock’N River Tower waterslides will be open to those in attendance.

People aged 15 and over are invited to discover the 350 seasonal job opportunities available in the department. Positions available include lifeguards, pool attendants, cashiers, swim instructors, pool management, summer camp counselors and summer camp leaders. Opportunities have tasks ranging from helping out with summer camps for youngsters to guarding and attending city pools. Representatives will be available to answer questions and guide people through the hiring process, with the option to apply on the spot.

Lifeguards make up the largest number of summer positions available for hire (120). Those who commit to summer work as a lifeguard receive discounted training and are eligible for $125 cash bonuses. Scholarships are available for training courses.

Note for those interested in lifeguard positions, but worried about the swimming skills required: a special program has been put in place and was recently awarded as an Aquatics International Best of Aquatics winner. See the story here: https://bit.ly/3JXmwEF. The Pool Attendant (PA) to Lifeguard Transition Program offers individuals hired as pool attendants, a position that does not require swimming skills, a paid opportunity to learn to swim. Once confident in their swimming abilities, candidates transfer to a paid training class to become lifeguards. It’s a great way to earn money while learning a life skill in swimming and water safety.

All Round Rock Department of Parks and Recreation summer positions offer a great opportunity to learn job skills that can translate into future careers. A background in public service and community service is what helps employees stand out in their future endeavours!

All applicants can apply online at www.roundrocktexas.gov/jobs.
